For some years now, as well as live performances, the interest in vocal music at a cappella has been served by workshops and lectures. Since 2013, lectures have been given by Professor Michael Fuchs, head of the Department of Phoniatry and Audiology at Leipzig University Hospital. Each year, this sought-after ENT specialist (and an erstwhile member of St Thomas’s Boys Choir) addresses a different aspect of singing and the human voice. His vivid, compact, likeable approach appeals to both top vocalists and amateur singers.

Due to the very positive response to Professor Fuchs' live chat within the digital a cappella programme of 2020, there’ll also be a reprise of this format within the festival 2021. Once again, he’ll be providing expert answers to your questions under the banner of ‘Everybody’s Talking about Corona: Singing and professional vocals in the Covid-19 era’. We're proud that this time he’ll be assisted by Leipzig virologist and epidemiologist Dr Corinna Pietsch.

The live chat can be viewed free of charge at 11am on 1 May on both the festival website and the a cappella YouTube channel. Although the chat will likely be held in German in general, feel free to send in your questions in English as well!
