As usual, the festival hosts will open the a cappella Festival Leipzig with a recital revealing a new facet of their music. In addition, they’ll be accompanied by musical guests from Austria, Die Österreichischen Salonisten – a small but remarkably active salon ensemble. Songs spanning the period from the 1920s to the 1950s will be performed in arrangements specially created for this line-up of five singers and six instrumentalists. Refrains once sung by the likes of Rudi Schuricke and Friedrich Holländer will feature in this lively, entertaining programme of German-language classics and popular songs upcycled from old 78s!
In cooperation with the Gewandhaus
