Founded in 2009, the Ingenium Ensemble has since established itself as one of Slovenia’s most renowned and influential vocal groups. Known for its refined and sensitive sound, the sextet’s repertoire spans sacred Renaissance music, jazz and pop, with particular emphasis on folk songs and compositions from its homeland. The Slovenian ensemble made a strong impression at our a cappella Contest in 2014, where they came second, went on to win first prize in Tolosa, Spain, and have received many other awards in the years since.
Their programme ‘Journey of Life’ takes listeners on a musical passage through life – from birth and youth to death, and beyond. Across six interconnected musical sections, sacred and secular works are woven together, alongside folk songs and popular pieces from Slovenia by composers such as Orlando di Lasso, Johann Christoph Bach, Edward Bairstow and Eric Whitacre.
