For the 25th time, amarcord will take the audience on a journey into a world where the human voice knows no limits. To mark the silver jubilee of their vocal music festival, the Leipzig singers will join forces for the opening concert with the four chamber musicians of the Klenke Quartet. Together, they’ll explore a country once famously (and unfairly) said to have no music of its own. This claim will be thoroughly debunked as the 10 vocal cords and 16 strings of these two ensembles present a brand new programme specially created for a cappella – including a joint world premiere! Audiences can look forward to a rich tapestry of masterful music from England (and New England) for voices, string instruments, and both together – from Dowland, Gibbons and Purcell to Britten, Holst and Macmillan, as well as Philip Glass and Caroline Shaw
