For the second time, we’re delighted to welcome a vocal ensemble from Armenia to the a cappella Festival. The Nairyan Vocal Ensemble is a female quartet dedicated to traditional and classical Armenian polyphony – performed with great authenticity and skill, but also with a strong sense of musical ambassadorship. Their concerts often take place in unexpected venues and are sometimes accompanied by simultaneous interpretation into sign language.
Beyond their musical work, the Nairyan Vocal Ensemble is actively committed to women’s rights and gender equality. Their festival concert offers a rare opportunity to discover the music of their homeland – and, as the concert title promises, something of its soul and its power. One not to miss.
Pre-concert talk with the Nairyan Vocal Ensemble and amarcord at 7:05 p.m. at the kleiner Kirchsaal in the Evangelisch Reformierte Kirche
