L’ultima parola emerged in 2019 from a project of musica universalis concerts by musician and author Clemens Goldberg. This prompted the members, already known to each other for years from collaborations in various outstanding international early music ensembles, to start their own group. Their first CD promptly won the German Record Critics’ Award. Their programme for a cappella 23 is based on Josquin’s ‘Chansons de Regretz’ and the then widespread notion of planetary influences on music. This performance by L’ultima parola will be a live reenactment of Josquin’s endeavour to surpass his music with exquisite inventiveness and compositional processes based on the proportions in the universe – and his desire to achieve ‘immortality’ through its lasting influence.
